Jonah came in in 11th today. Starting first after winning yesterday, he had to lead the front competitors through 75 kilometers of dunes... making it much easier navigation for them because all they had to do was follow his tracks. But they never caught him in the dunes, only right after the dunes where there was a confusing navigation point, followed by some long straight sections where Jonah's 690 doesn't have the horsepower to keep up with the factory bikes.
After the special, Depres, Verhoeven and Lopez and Coma congratulated Jonah on staying ahead of them in the dunes.. It is not an easy feet with those riders hot on your heels.
The special was shortened last night due to storm damage, and shortened again this morning due to an impassible water crossing, so Jonah didn't lose much time despite having the other guys catch him.. He is still in a solid second place.
Also, last night, an incredible lightning, rain and wind storm hit the bivouac, knocking out power and knocking down tents. Afterwards there was an amazing light show, with rainbow, glowing sky, and lightning..
